Why God doesn't kill the devil

Image
Question: "God vs. Satan - God is all-powerful, so why does He not just kill Satan?" Answer: One of the mysteries of the Christian life is why God didn’t just destroy Satan immediately after he sinned. We know that God will one day defeat Satan once and for all by throwing him into the Lake of Fire where he will be tortured day and night forever ( Revelation 20:10 ), but sometimes we wonder why God has not destroyed Satan already. Perhaps we will never know God’s reasoning in this particular situation, but we do know certain things about Him. First, we know He is absolutely sovereign over all creation, and this includes Satan, who is “on a very short leash.” Certainly, Satan and his demons wreak havoc in the world, but they are only allowed to go so far and no farther. We also know that God has planned everything from the beginning of time to the end. Nothing can thwart His plans, and things are proceeding exactly on schedule. “The LORD of hosts has sworn: ‘As I have p...

SUICIDE

Don’t die Since you are not able to see any reasons worth living for and are about to kill yourself you might as well spend a few more hours on the earth keeping my company friend. You have lost a lot and I am not trying to pretend it never happen so I’m not going to ask you to either. I can’t say these events you’ve faced are similar to pains I personally endured. We all have our roads to walk, it just seems you’ve been given a harder on and regardless of what you believe, the only reason you are still here now is because somewhere inside yourself you are looking for answers, deep down you want your loss and hurt to make sense, you would not have reached out otherwise and you would not be reading this otherwise. Inspiring words fade and emotional words will not last, you have to muster up your own reasons why remaining alive might make some sense still. You have talents and dreams of your own and if you ever loved you parents surely you don’t believe they would want yo...

Homeless Man Gives Church a True Meaning

Image
"Being a Christian is more than something you claim. It’s something you live by and share with others"   Pastor Jeremiah Steepek transformed himself into a homeless person and went to the 10,000 member church that he was to be introduced as the head pastor at that morning. He walked around his soon to be church for 30 minutes while it was filling with people for service….only 3 people out of the 7-10,000 people said hello to him. He asked people for change to buy food….NO ONE in the church gave him change. He went into the sanctuary to sit down in the front of the church and was asked by the ushers if he would please sit in the back. He greeted people to be greeted back with stares and dirty looks, with people looking down on him and judging him. As he sat in the back of the church, he listened to the church announcements and such. When all that was done, the elders went up and were excited to introduce the new pastor of the church to the congregation……..”We would lik...

Biblical Evidence for the Godhead

Image
By David J. Stewart "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and THESE THREE ARE ONE." —1st John 5:7        The Bible, God’s Word, proclaims that there is ONE God (Deuteronomy 6:4), Who has revealed Himself to mankind in three distinct Persons; namely, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Although the term “Trinity” is not found in the Scriptures, the word “Godhead” most certainly is — in 3 places! Romans 1:19, 20 states… “Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and GODHEAD ; so that they are without excuse.” Some people (such as Muslims) foolishly claim that belief in a Godhead (aka, Trinity) means worship of three gods...

Deborah - A woman of spirit

Image
It is often said that the world of the Bible was a patriarchal society in which God always chose to act, speak and reveal the divine purposes through men. It is quite probable that you are not familiar with the story of Deborah from the book of Judges, especially since the letter to the Hebrew in the New Testament singles out Barak as one of the great heroes of faith in ancient Israel when it refers to this story – an interpretation that is somewhat at odds with the narrative that we heard read this morning. The name Deborah is the normal Hebrew word for a bee or a hornet – and it sounds very similar to the feminine form of the Hebrew participle meaning ‘one who speaks’. So is the name encouraging us to anticipate a woman who will produce the honey that Israel expected to flow in the Promised Land, or a woman who will speak in mellifluous tones? – or perhaps the writer is preparing us for a story with a sting in its tail. There is only one other woman in the Hebrew Bible called D...
